D&D 5e: An Analysis of the Classes

How Did I get Here?

As I return at last to blogging I find myself drawn to D&D, a Tabletop RPG that has become a staple of my daily life. The game revolves around 4-6 players and a Dungeon Master or DM as they are more commonly known. Working together as team they craft interesting and hilarious stories to laugh about for years to come. Player’s create characters of a certain race, background, and class that give them a number of in game abilities and resources. The dungeon master creates the world the players experience filling it with interesting people and perilous adventure. In the summer before leaving for college I began to follow a Twitch streamer play D&D as a way of passing the time on Friday nights. Slowly, what was a passing interest became an overwhelming curiosity, and so I began to play games online.

What am I Doing?

Now as my passion as a writer returns I find my mind drawn to writing about the game that stole my heart. As a way to ease myself into the writing about this topic I thought I might start with explaining what I am going to cover and how I am going to cover it. Firstly I will be starting with 5e as that is the current edition and I will be going class by class breaking down their roles, abilities, and subclasses. How exactly this is done may depend on the class, but these bases will be covered before I move onto the next class. When I am done covering the classes published in the Player’s Handbook I have some homebrew classes and subclasses that I will cover afterwards.

Now without further ado it is my pleasure to announce that I will begin with the Warlock. Come back next time when I go over the Patrons of one of 5e most interesting classes.

If you’re at all interested in getting into D&D 5e you can purchase the Player’s Handbook physically on Amazon or digitally on DND Beyond
